Joe and Adam run the Royal Parks Half Marathon
Adam & Joe
My Story
Joe and Adam decided to take part in this year's Royal Park's Half Marathon, after being persuaded by our colleague Meg to raise some much needed funds for World Child Cancer. Subsequently, Meg has had to sadly pull out of the race due to injury. Which means we now need to fundraise!
Here's our emotional plea.... 300,000 children develop cancer each year, and most are in the developing world where is very little access to treatment. Here in the UK, thanks to advancements in medicine, children who develop cancer here have an 80% chance of survival. Sadly in low income countries it can be as little as 10%. We have all been able to see the amazing impact our work can have on children who are very sick and families who are struggling.
We hope you can spare just a few pounds to help those less fortunate than us. If you need some persuasion, then rest assured this will be a challenge for us. As well as this half marathon, Joe is also running the Richmond marathon in September, and also the hardest road marathon in the UK (the Langdale Marathon) the week after Royal Parks! Adam has just completed the RideLondon 100 mile cycle, and has never run more than 5K in his life, so it's going to be a struggle!
We are not going to be the quickest runners but any pennies you can sponsor us will really help us get round the 13.1 miles (at least we will not have to carry Meg now!). If we hit our fundraising target we will wear silly outfits - suggestions welcome.
Also, we will be holding a pub quiz in London to raise funds before the run, so let us know if you would like to come along!
Thanks for reading!
